Sagada has been one of the favorite tourist spots in the Philippines. It being untouched, displaying ancient Filipino rituals, a breather from the busy city life, showcasing good food and offering action-packed adventures; there’s no surprise people from the metro and around the world want to catch a glimpse of what it has to offer.
With the people of Sagada embracing tourism, inns, guesthouses and lodges sprung to life. The following lists down some notable places where travelers can find a quiet respite into the mountains.
- Sagada Homestay. This guest house offers a combination of affordability, friendliness, highly maintained facility, location and breathtaking views. It has 6 bedrooms in the upper floor with fantastic Sagada town center views. The lower level is where the dining room and a well equipped kitchen are. Guests are allowed to use the kitchen only for a small donation to cover the cost of cooking gas and the upkeep. It has a separate cottage outside which is ideal for families who travel Sagada.
- Canaway Resthouse. A cheap yet good value guest house is what Canaway Resthouse is. This place is an ideal accommodation for big family groups. There are 5 bedrooms on the ground floor, three bedrooms on the second floor, and two rooms on the third floor with private balcony and great views. Like Sagada Homestay, there’s provision for cooking in their kitchen for a small fee for the gas.
- Log Cabin Guest Room. The room above the Log Cabin Restaurant is one of the most comfortable rooms in Sagada. It has its own bathroom and private balcony with a partial view down the valley. Their kitchen makes great coffee, but meals must be ordered ahead.
- The Residential Lodge. It is opposite Canaway and next to Travellers Inn. The Residential Lodge has 14 rooms spread over three floors. The best room is on the second floor with private bathroom and bathtub. It has large common areas and there is an open fire place on the second floor. Kitchens are on the lower ground and ground floor which guests can use.
- George Guest House. It is next to Canaway and it’s hard to miss. It is the most colorful building in Sagada. Travel Sagada and be refreshed with such a unique sight amidst mountains and trees. All their bedrooms have private bathrooms.
- Travellers Inn. This is a low cost guest house with 14 rooms on two floors with 2 having private bathrooms. A kitchen on the second floor is open for the guests to use. A souvenir shop sells pottery on the lower level and a well-stocked general store as well.
- Saint Joseph Rest House. This guest house has 27 rooms and cottages and it is the largest guest house in Sagada. The rooms and cottages are set in beautiful gardens which is one of its attractions. A wide variety of room types from dormitory to private cottages are available. Café Saint Joe, a large coffee shop is located on the ground level.
- Mapiya-aw Pension. People looking for peace and quiet will like this place. It has a lovely garden and 16 cozy rooms to boot. In cold months, guests can use either or both of two fireplaces on request.
- Ganduyan Cafe and Inn. This is one of the earliest guest houses in Sagada. It has a small café where one can have a good breakfast.
- Sagada Guest House. It is right in the center of town just behind the new municipal building under construction. Room rates go up in elevation and with amenities.
- The Green House. This is a popular place for young backpackers because it’s inexpensive. There are 6 very basic bedrooms with 3 share bathrooms. Guests can cook their own food.
- Grandma’s Yellow House Inn and Café. It has 4 bedrooms with share bathroom and one self contained cottage with two bedrooms.
- Rock Inn. The junction to Rock Inn is on the right before you get to Sagada, and about a kilometer to the guest house. It is set in an orange orchard, so the fresh juice is a must try. This is a relatively new facility and can accommodate large groups.
Exploring Sagada can be exhausting and a good hideaway will keep your drained body well rested and will give you enough energy for the following days’ list of activities.
