We all know how Siargao is the surfing capital of the Philippines, home to the infamous Cloud 9 that attracts wave riders from all over the world. However, for the non-surfing adventurers who are out to explore the beauty of this paradise destination, Siargao holds a bounty of unique and unspoiled islands ready to be discovered.
The coast of Siargao and its neighboring islets conceal stretches of white sand beaches, reefs, palm trees, as well as 4000 hectares of mangrove forest -the largest in the entire country.
Be ready to prepare your island-hopping itinerary as we round up the most amazing places that Siargao has to offer.
Guyam Island
Guyam has little to offer in terms of contemporary conveniences but a lot when it comes to secluded pleasures. This uninhabited island completely surrounds you in swaying coconut trees standing atop ash- white sands strutting beguiling emerald waters.
It’s rather humble in size averaging an area of about 4,300 square meters only. What this means is that it will literally take you half a minute- maybe a minute or two more if you work out as hard as once a year- to get from one end of the island to the other! You might think its small size insinuates Guyam has little to offer but it is blessed with generosity in picturesque scenery, palm trees, and mini-rock pools.
Naked Island
Naked Island is an exclusive beach destination cast out in the middle of aqua horizons like the sun in the sky. There are no trees offering refuge from the blistering midday heat- so you’ll need to carry your own sitting and shade gear- but the calm waters around the island ensure you can take a dip or go snorkeling within an idyllic setting.
And no, this not a nudist island contrary to what its name suggests. So if you were hoping people were walking around here with nothing on but hats and sunglasses, sorry to disappoint. It’s actually called “Naked Island” because there is literally nothing on the island except for the sand on which you stand.
Daku Island
For lunchtime niceties, Daku is the go-to providing a number of huts and cottages serving up fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and pork from a delectable native cuisine. It is the largest of all the islands so far bearing more than the combined size of the proceeding two with more coastline- and palm trees- to offer.
This island also presents a similar tale of holiday bliss availing winsome beaches which are popular for picnicking and getting down to some fun volleyball with the locals. The island has become a popular lunchtime joint and meal preparation can take up to an hour so patience is of the essence.
General Luna
The Cloud 9 surf point is one that is famous throughout the interwebs but not too many people know that it is situated in the Philippines and General Luna in particular. If you are a hardcore surfer who lives for the thrill of racing against bellowing waves, then be sure to have it on your itinerary.
General Luna also hosts the world-renowned WSL surf event toward the end of September when the surfing season is at its peak, bringing with it lots of people and lots of parties. If you’d like to steer clear of the crowds and surf in peace, then prioritize making the trip outside of this period. Stimpy’s surfing spot is also an excellent alternative that’s equally world-class as is the one at Rock Island.

Corregidor Island
Located about 45 minutes away from General Luna by boat, Corregidor Island stands as a dreamy tropical landmass that is excellent for honeymoons, family vacations, romantic escapades, and intimate rendezvous with friends.
It is slightly larger than Duka and Naked islands ensuring there’s just enough space for expansive fun on the beach but not too much to sacrifice that privacy aspect that makes it appealing. Corregidor Island is also known for its friendliness, fine local food, and, of course, unforgettable views and sunsets.
Sugba Lagoon
It’s a crime to say you visited Siargao yet you never set foot on Sugba Lagoon. Nestled within an overwhelming population of staring trees, this enchanting turquoise lagoon is hidden away like a secret. If solitude and untouched nature make up your definition of the ideal vacation, then you’ll be extremely pleased with Sugba.
A large pontoon house serves as the base of operations from where you can get a table and choose your spot for the day within a tranquil watery sanctuary totaling 4,000 hectares. The house also puts at your disposal a sweet diving board perfect for plummeting headfirst into alluring waters.
